If I buy British Gas Homecare, can I keep the cover if I switch supplier after?

My boiler warranty ended last month, and my current dual tariff with British Gas ends Dec 31st.
I need an annual service / inspection and 12 months of cover, and Homecare currently has 2 months free included, and will cover an annual inspection plus 12 months cover.
If I buy this 12 months of homecare, can I still change energy supplier after Dec 31st and keep the cover from British Gas? I have placed the order already but can still cancel if I am not allowed to keep it if I change supplier after.
British gas want 29p standing charge and 19p kwph for electric on their current renewal offer. If I were to switch to E-On who are currently the cheapest, its 8.4p standing charge and 16.5p kwph. My monthly spend on electric is twice that of my gas so I am more concerned about the cost of the electricity than the gas.

Yes, you don't need to be a BG customer to buy their (overpriced) Homecare services.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
  • I don't have homecare, or any of those service plans. I just got one good engineer who comes round here once a yr. services the boiler, checks the rads. job done.

Any advice on where I can find cheaper annual service and 12 months cover?
First alternative I found is a company called hometree and they cost even more.

Also actually I think I can get it for free from this company because I'm on benefits https://www.depher.co.uk

You don't need the cover. Put the monthly fee into a savings account and self insure.

My boiler already broke twice within its 2 year warranty period so I don't want it not to be covered.
The service I found for elderly / disabled still charge for service and repairs, and the home care price with 2 months free is already cheaper than any competitors. The offer also already changed to just 1 month free and the price would now be £15 more for the whole year.
