Carpet Damage

Options
we had a new carpet fitted in our bedroom 2 weeks ago and at the time it was noticed that the carpet had a flaw running through the middle, we reported it immediately to the store who said it will probably go within a couple of weeks but if not to call back, upshot is now the manufacturers have said that it is a fault with the carpet and are prepared to replace it.
our question is who is now responsible to remove our bedroom furniture because as like most people we have now fitted the wardrobes over the carpet ?

  • I would think the carpet fitters will just cut around the fitted wardrobes & fit the new carpet up to the wardrobes.
Why on earth would you want to do otherwise ??
Why did you fit wardrobes on an obviously faulty carpet ??
  • If you chose to fit fitted wardrobes over a carpet you knew was flawed and may need changing, that’s on you.
  • Will it matter if the new carpet fitted up to the wardrobes isn't the same single piece as the carpet inside the wardrobes?

I don't know why I typed all that.  I know the answer.  It won't.

If the fitting of the wardrobes had already been arranged, it might not have been possible to delay or cancel without incurring a financial penalty so they may not have had too much of a choice.

The 'new' part that is cut can be put on top of the old carpet in the wardrobe.
Why buy a wardrobe without a bottom? (For sturdiness LOL?)

Also, there's an element of believing the statement "the store who said it will probably go within a couple of weeks" -- you do see those replies sometimes with carpet faults, and mattress faults, where the first level response is "It needs to bed in/settle/handwave for X days".

What you can be certain is that after X days, it will still be faulty, and you'll get "Oh, that should have been reported before X days".

    Beware :)
