Green Energy Voucher - impossible or what !

I have been trying for 2 months to get an installer in South Cheshire for the green energy grant. We need loft installation for the primary measure and replacing rotten single glazing for the secondary measure plus one of our family is on UC.... easy then ?... NO NO..

Can't find anyone without 50 miles of us and every time I get in touch with anyone they keep me hanging on for weeks only to finally reply and say they dont cover our area

Do I have to basically give up or is there anyone that can give me advice

There aren't many installers. 

The government didn't tell the trades what was required until the scheme was supposed to have already started - so when you started calling, no one really knew if they were qualified! 

The cost and time to get accredited is too high compared to the short time span of the deal, so feedback within trade associations is that they won't bother.  

It isn't just Trustmark required, but anyone and everyone with the Trustmark gets bombarded with calls because of the lack of transparency.  

The only quite I've seen on here for loft insulation through the deal was more than the cost of buying it yourself and paying someone to lay it.

I don't think the general public really appreciate how much time and money it takes for companies to tick all of the government boxes and get accredited - and then usually for the government to change the rules or scrap the scheme out of hand.

I've given up on accreditations after being burnt a few times, and decades of mismanagement by government. Everything takes more time than needed, with huge amounts of paperwork, unnecessary requirements that just add time and cost, and then the government promise the world to the public which can never be delivered - the companies then have to deal with angry people who suddenly realise that it's not quite what the government promised...

I found an installer for loft insulation, got a quote and applied. I couldn't get anyone for my secondary measure (door) so gave up. The loft insulation quote is inflated but 1/3 of it is still less than I could DiY it for so I went ahead anyway. Still waiting for the voucher and I won't be surprised if it all comes to nothing.
