Am I eligible to be furloughed?

Options
I work for a company who are based in Ireland and 90% of the staff on the payroll are based in Republic of Ireland also. However the remaining 10% are based in England and work remotely from there (including myself). I am paid through via a UK payroll company and they manage everything HM Revenue related. I’m currently on maternity leave and have been on ML since 18th September. As I’m now coming out of the 6 weeks pay @ 90% of salary entitlement period and about to be earning £150 per week on SMP I had a thought and wondering if I could increase my entitlement by requesting if my employer will furlough me, so that way I would be entitled to 80% of my monthly pay and earn more during this period? I don’t believe there would be anything wrong in doing this, they would simply take me off Maternity Pay and put me on furlough until January which is when I was planning to return to work anyway, but I’m just not sure I would be eligible - any help or advice please?☺️

Ending maternity leave early to be furloughed

If your employee decides to end their maternity leave early to enable them to be furloughed (with your agreement), they will need to give you at least 8 weeks’ notice of their return to work and you will not be able to furlough them until the end of the 8 weeks.

If your employee gets Maternity Allowance

If your employee is getting Maternity Allowance while they’re on maternity leave, they should not get furlough pay at the same time.

Eight weeks notice to return to work takes you into January. You could ask to take accrued holiday (paid at 100% of your normal pay) before you return, but this would be at your employer's discretion.

Well other than defrauding the government and taxpayer for personal gain, but I guess morals are subjective.
