Ex-Partner IVA advice
Hi,
I'm hoping to try and get some (helpful) advice regarding my ex-wife taking out an IVA. We split up almost 6 years ago and had an unsecured joint loan together. The joint loan had 2 years left in October 2020, but when I checked my bank the monthly direct debit hadn't been taken. I called them (Halifax) and was advised that my ex-wife had taken out an IVA and the debt had been passed to the collections team. I had no idea. I took a loan out in my name for the outstanding amount and paid the balance the same day. Halifax have advised the default on the loan will now be on my credit file for 6 years. I have complained to Halifax as I was able to make the monthly repayments myself and wasn't contacted about any changes being made to the account and the direct debit being cancelled. I have also complained to the insolvency practice as my ex-wife has said when she contacted them she was assured this would have no impact on my credit file. I have financially disassociated from her via all credit reference agencies and will be putting a notice of correction on my credit files once Halifax have confirmed that the debt has been settled. Does anyone have any advice or other avenues I could pursue to try and get the default removed from my file? It is completely unfair to do this to me as everything was done without my knowledge and this will impact me for the next 6 years. Thank you.

ICO would be the complaints resoloution service for anything credit file related, thats your next step if the Halifax won`t play ball.

Thank you. I'm also planning on going through the financial ombudsman if I have no luck with Halifax.0
