I have just received my ssp1 form from my employer ... I have no qualms with this as I knew my 28 weeks was due to end .. it actually ended on the 10th of October looking at the form so they were late sending this . I have 2 queries one might seem silly but never having been in this position .. do I send this form to the Department of Works n Pensions? And the other .. how long will it be before I receive any payments?
Thanks Keith

I'm assuming you're talking about New style ESA. For this you need to have paid the correct amount of NI contributions in tax years April 2017 to March 2019.You can apply with this link here and payment can take 3-4 weeks. https://www.gov.uk/guidance/new-style-employment-and-support-allowance#how-to-applyYou'll also need a fit note from your GP as well as the SSP1 form. It can be backdated to the date your SSP ended but the fit note will also need to be backdated.

Hi and thanks , my fit note is dated from before the time my ssp ended and the form is all ready backdated to then .I meet all the criteria regarding NI contributions etc so am I right in presuming I send those off but apply for ESA in the link you kindly provided immediately?
Thanks Keith0 -
Don't send them off now. You need to apply for new style ESA. When you claim you put your claim start date as the day after your SSP ended. Once you have made your ESA claim DWP will tell you what to do with your Fit Note and SSP1.keithrip said:Hi and thanks , my fit note is dated from before the time my ssp ended and the form is all ready backdated to then .I meet all the criteria regarding NI contributions etc so am I right in presuming I send those off but apply for ESA in the link you kindly provided immediately?

If you do get asked to send them off keep copies in case you need them again or they get lost in the post.Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Some rules may be different in other parts of UK.0 -

That's useful to know - did you do both the Fit Note and the SSP1 that way?keithrip said:Just applied on line ( you send a pic of your fit note and the site tells you if it’s of an acceptable quality ) . It only asks for the fit note , quite a few of the questions ask what it says on your SSP1 but it doesn’t ask to see it... it does say they may make contact in the near future if they need to see further documentation . Says the current processing time is 3 weeks .0

Thanks for posting back. Be mindful that if your Fit Note expires before a decision has been made about your Work Capability status you will need to provide another.keithrip said:It only asks for the fit note , quite a few of the questions ask what it says on your SSP1 but it doesn’t ask to see it... it does say they may make contact in the near future if they need to see further documentation .
