Whilst it's correct that the scaffolding need to be checked for safety and security, this only has to be done by a competent person and this could be one of the scaffold erectors themselves.MovingForwards said:No one came to assess it for H&S which is required by law.0 -

Think you meant to tag OP not me, I only lifted one section from her editted opening post.Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.0 -
That's what happens when people "lift" sections from a post rather than using the quote function.MovingForwards saidThink you meant to tag OP not me, I only lifted one section from her editted opening post.
Your earlier post doesn't give any clue that the comment was written by another person or which post it came from.1 -
Not strictly connected but pertinent and interesting I found.
Up the road from myself a small building have almost completed 2 new detached houses. I have been chatting with the main builder and helped him a couple of times. We were discussing the prices of scaffold and the terms, ie how long the scaffold company will allow for the lease at any given cost.
The builder advised that he got the scaffold erected for 50% the price of all other quotes because rather than the scaffold self supporting, only one side of any walk did so and the other side was supported by the house itself by the poles being built into the mortar between the brickwork. Once complete, he will simply repoint where necessary.
I'd imagine that specialist poles must be used for these joints.0 -
I've seen scaffolding done like that many times on new builds. The poles have a flattened end that fits into the mortar gap between brickwork.DerektheDonkey said:Not strictly connected but pertinent and interesting I found.

He said to the salesman, “My wife would like to talk to you about the Volkswagen Golf in the showroom window.”
Salesman said, “We haven't got a Volkswagen Golf in the showroom window.”
The man replied, “You have now mate".1
