Name change and Equifax

Options
I’ve always had excellent credit score, I’ve not been refused credit when I’ve applied for it until earlier this year when applying for a bank loan (with the same bank that I’ve had a loan from in the past) which was refused. I legally changed my name about 2 years ago and equifax will not allow my new and previous names to be linked on my report. I have been battling with them since July and I’m still no further into getting this sorted. They have told me that an alias can only be added if it is a last name change and not a first name change. I have been told that if anyone needs to credit check me they should do this in both names yet they won’t allow me to see the report in my old name to check if there are any errors on it. Other credit agencies have my names linked and my score is excellent with them.
I am being evicted and need to find new accommodation which will require a credit check. Can anyone please help me? Do any of you know if there is an ombudsman that regulates these credit companies?
Thanks in advance from a very frustrated and desperate Zee!
