I am an investor with a business degree who believes in fundamental analysis.  However, I am trying to learn more about technical analysis in my spare time.  I have a paper account with a broker and I tried to place an order recently on a practice account.  Almost every order I place fails because of the market segment.  Apparently the broker supports the following market segments:

SET1 ; SET3; AMSM; SSMM; SSMU; STMM; ASQ1

I have looked on the LSE website and if you search for a stock, then it does specify what segments the stock operate on.  What is a market segment?
I found this: https://www.londonstockexchange.com/trade/equity-trading/trading-services/setsqx-and-seaq?lang=en.  However, it does not narrow down to segments.

There's an Excel file on this page which breaks down the shares which belong to each of the different order books, if that's what you're looking for.

Thanks.  That does help.  However, do you know what they mean e,g. what distinguishes SET1 to SET3 or SET3 to AMSM?

SET 1 relates to the FTSE100 as an example.

What stocks are you attempting to trade?  Selection of platform/stockbroker does matter once you move away from the mainstream.

It is only a paper account, but in answer to your question - any stock in the uk e.g. ftse 100, aim all share etc.  Is there a 1 to 1 mapping between the index and segment? E.g. ftse 100=set 1, aim 100=set 2 etc? One of the few google searches I have done that has returned nothin.  Thanks.
