This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
DH up and getting ready for work, as is DS1, I'm showered, dressed and enjoying my first cuppa and my porridge whilst on here. DS2 settled and happy.
Now getting light, air is quite mild, yesterday was very mild - the heating didn't come on all day.
Lunch was roast pork, roasties, mash, swede, carrots, broc, peas, yorkshres and gravy - some LO's so enough for another meal.
We were chilled yesterday and didn't do much I had a bit of a lie-in but had had a couple of nights where I hadn't slept that well. Back to work today and I'm just working this week then on days' off and holiday next week.
Keep safe and well x

Morning All
Thanks for the start nmlc, glad you had a lie in, something I seem unable to do!
Had a good time with DS1 and the DGC being here, we went swimming yesterday then had a lovely Sunday roast. Once they went home I did nothing!
Swimming towels on the pulley and the house is fairly tidy, tea tonight will be the leftovers from yesterday.
Have a happy Monday, take care. XX13 -
Morning
I had a migraine on friday, I usually manage to stop them before they kick in properly but this one got away from me. I was hungry but felt sick, and tired but couldn't sleep. By bedtime I was almost back to normal so was looking forward to a good nights sleep, I woke up after a couple of hours, dropped back off then was woken up at 2.30am when some little f*****s decided to start letting off boomy fireworks! I found out yesterday that they were on the green, a couple of people who live alongside it ran after them, one chased in his car. I have no idea if they caught up with them.
I haven't slept properly for the last two nights, I feel a bit like a zombie at the moment. I have a jobs list but don't know if I'll even start it.
I'll probably end up asleep on the sofa this afternoon, I'm already looking forward to it, lol.

Morning Nmic up early as the men of the house are like a herd of wildebeest when they get up so i lay there till they had left then decided i might as well get up . Today the boiler man is coming and i need to deep clean the boudoir after the decorating. I order an ottoman and new bed frame yesterday so the purse strings need tightening but to be fair the bedroom hasn't had a revamp for over 8 years so its about time luckily the built in wardrobes are all still good . Right better get on and walk the dog now its light . Have a good day one and all and for all those in Wales happy non lockdown day xSlava Ukraini14

Morning all, thank you for starting the thread nmlc.
Yesterday started dull and misty and later changed to dull and rainy - I think today will probably be similar.
So far, having got up at 4. 30 after a decent sleep, I've had 2 cups of tea and washed the kitchen floor. I have probably peaked for the day.
Last night's dinner was a bologna see bake, made enough for 2 nights but boringly, the rest will have to be eaten today as the freezers are full.
I might go and feed the washing machine in a minute, on dry days I try to get the stuff out at first light but anything washed today will go on indoor racks so no mad rush.
.Today I will finish off and stuff a bear and then make a babygro for it, other than that no interesting plans.
Tru, hope you feel better today and that everyone has a good day.
II was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back15 -
Morning folks and thanks NMLC. I'm another envious of anyone who can sleep in! We had fog all day yesterday, it never lifted, and it felt cold with it. I had my promised day of sloth and, apart from making my roast lunch, I did nothing else all day. I alternated between dozing, watching tv and reading under my heated throw with my feet up the rest of the time. Today I must do better!
So I am trying to muster up the enthusiasm to tackle a few jobs today. The ironing basket has started following me around so that may be the first job. But at least I have a no cooking day. Plenty of chicken and veggies left to warm up tonight, with just enough chicken to put in a sandwich with my lunchtime hm soup.
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for all in need. TRU just take it easy until you feel better, Take care one and all and stay sane and safe all on the lockdown bench x

Good morning, dull and damp here. like yesterday. True november weather.Hope you'll feel a bit better as the days goes on Tru, I think a lot of us on here don't sleep well, and i'm another who can't sleep in.We went on a kitchen sink hunt yesterday, and are continuing it today. We went to 2 big diy chains yesterday, the one I wanted was out of stock in one, and not available at all in the other. It's just an ordinary stainless steel sink, nothing out of the ordinary. There's a couple of builders merchants we'll try this morning. The washing fairy called in yesterday, did 2 loads, and had to drape it over the airers on the landing and in the spare bedroom.I'm going to make some spiced carrot soup - I'd bought a bag of frozen carrots during the big lockdown, thought they might come in handy, but DH is not keen on them, so they've been taking up space in the freezer ever since, and I'm sick of them, so I'll make this soup, it should be ok.Well, I'll stop waffling on and wish everyone a good Monday - take care folks15

Morning
Back to no sleep again today so my mammoth lie in was probably to blame.
On the washing machine saga I glared at it, had a few words even resorted to begging then ran a load and it worked! My bedding in this morning so with a will and prayer I may not need a new one after all. If this works we will be discussing money laundering to fund a new one
Sainsburys arrived with no subs or missing stuff so most of it was squirrelled away for December. The flowers are lovely... yellow roses with a pink tinge really brightens the room up. When I'm rich and famous I will have daily flower deliveries and they won't be £3 from the supermarket
Plan today is to continue worrying about the washing machine and give the kitchen a good clean. Liver from the freezer tonight so nice and easy with some mash and extra gravy.
Have a good day all and always be kind to your washing machine15 -
Morning all
Dull and overcast here with a fog this morning which seems to be lifting now.
I have woken with a slight sore throat which absolutly needs to 'do one' I cannot get ill now I have my pre op tomorrow and cant have any type of tempreture or they will cancel itwill take some paracetamol and see if they help.
I have no problem having a lie in I could sleep the morning away but it takes me a good few hours to get to sleep at night I really envy those people who's head touches the pillow and are asleep I would do almost anything to have that skill
Dinner tonight is roast which was very nice last night so looking forward to that and no effort at all.
We are off to dd's old house today to start cleaning it, last time we went in it was a complete state and Im not holding out any hope of it being any better but the people who are buying it are (fingers crossed) moving in Thursday and the lady is heavily pregnant and we cant bear thr thought of her having to clean his filth so we will go and do what we can.
Hope you all have good days xxx15 -
Morning folks.I habitually wake up early though don't always actually get up anymore! So no sleeping in unfortunately. This morning I've been preparing for the window cleaner, all the window ledges need to be cleared and furniture pulled away. The chap is very good at moving things if I don't. Then there's a delivery due and then I'm meeting up with a woman from back home to collect some paperwork.Last night I woke at 3.00am overheating under the duvet - turns out that the heating hadn't switched off. Combined with the intermittent problem of no hot water for short periods, this from a brand new boiler, had me angry. I've emailed the company this morning and an engineer is coming on Wednesday. The sun is shining though I think it's cold outside so I'm looking forward to a walk all wrapped up.REDRUBY - oh no! feet up / head down and bash that sore throat. Take it easy at the house clean.Happy Monday to everyone.15

Morning all.
Nelski you have to show these washing machines who's boss. Having said that, I had a bucket full of soggy towels dumped on me yesterday. Next doors WM will wash, but doth not drain, neither doth it spin. I am neither rich nor famous (not sure what went wrong there) but I have fresh flowers in my house all the time. I have discovered that alstroemarias (?) if bought in bud, cost £3 and last 2 weeks. This is a legacy of my mother's. Even in the depths of winter she could go into the garden and find enough to make some artistic arrangement.
Mine is gathered from T*sc* and is probably less than artistic, but there you go.
I spent most of the weekend on the phone. The music master from the last school I taught in, died very suddenly from a heart attack and as I think I was the only one still in touch with him and his family all the other ex-members of staff rang me over the weekend. It was lovely to chat to them all and catch up on all their news, but I was exhausted by yesterday evening.
Today I have letters to write and I have something similar to TA's ironing begging for attention. The only difference being that mine isn't in a basket, just piled into an untidy mountain heap.
Lunch will be the same as yesterday. Living on my own I have got into the habit of cooking once/eating twice, so today my lunch will take 2 minutes to heat up in the microwave.
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Monday is like that person who shows up at your party uninvited.
You'll allow it, but honestly..........how rude.I believe that friends are quiet angels
Who lift us to our feet when our wings
Have trouble remembering how to fly.15
