Is this damp?

One of our inside walls has some bubbles in the plaster and today I've noticed a crack in the skirting board.  The outside wall gets a lot of moss below the damp course, I'm not sure if it's related?  We had a drain survey when we moved in due to the moss but it came back all clear.  Any advice/thoughts? Thanks

  • Have you lifted up the carpet in that area? Is the floor wet? Does the wall feel wet?
  • I don't think the wall feels wet, maybe cold.  I haven't lifted the carpet. We have concrete floor so I wasn't sure if it would really show anything?
  • The carpet doesn't feel wet. We get condensation in that room as it's our main living space

It doesn't look like damp to me, either inside or outside.

We also have concrete floors, I'm not too keen on them myself but there's not much I can do about it. Our outside walls DO have loads of moss though. Can't see any on your photo.

We have a cheap Unibond Aero 'moisture absorber' to help with condensation in winter when we have to dry washing indoors. Or you could try getting a proper dehumidifier but of course they're more expensive.

Most people recommend having some ventilation to prevent condensation - but I find it too cold in winter!

The skirting board looks like there is a dent just above the cracked paint - if this isn't just the light it looks like someone hit it.

Doesn't look like anything to me, just a couple of bubbles in the paint probably when painted and what looks like a bit of impact damage to the skirting.

Outside looks exactly as it should.  Ground level 150mm below DOC with a french drain to boot.  That's rare!

Moss is fine below the DPC.  It shows the DPC is doing its job.
