Backing up (Galaxy S10) SD card?

Not backing up my phone to an SD card but backing up the SD card that's in my phone.
Right now my photos are stored direct to the SD card. When my phone backs itself up it's set to do all bar photos as they're to the card.
My main Google account that is tied to the phone is also over halfway full as it is (Google Drive i'm talking about there).
I have other Google/Gmail accounts for various things (e.g. i have one specific for my work to use for my payslips to be emailed to and this is all i use the account for) - so I have Google accounts with empty Google Drives if that helps. It's just that my main one that i'm signed in to on my phone is already over halfway full.
I also have my phone set up to back up to Samsung Cloud.
I've just had a look in storage and i currently have 8GB of photos and videos.
What's the best way to back this SD card up so i don't lose these? Free is preferred. It doesn't have to be Google Drive, i just mentioned it as it's often a favourite to be mentioned.

How is the SD card configured? As a separate storage drive, or as integrated storage? (The latter means it appears as part of your overall phone storage). If the former then simply connect the phone to your PC by USB cable, open Windows Explorer and copy the SD card folder to your PC. Even for the former configuration the simple method is the same - the difference being that you'd select the folders (that you know are stored on the SD card) which you want to copy.0

I couldn't tell you how it's configured, but if you can tell me how i can check and then tell you then i can do that.I was thinking on the lines of an auto backup if possible. I currently have auto backup on for Samsung Cloud and it just does it while i sleep. The problem with a manual backup of photos is i need to remember to do it. If it's the only option in this situation then fair enough, i'll just have to get in to the habit of doing it.0

You've got a google account on the phone. Why not use google photos backup & sync, which has unlimited storage for "high quality" files, which should be fine for the photos and videos the phone takes.

Anything you see in the Google Photos app will back up to Google - if you configure the folders for backup. You can check this way:
1. Open the Photos app
2. Click on your icon at top-right and select Settings
3. Click on Back up and sync
4. Click on Back up device folders
5. Click each folder (slider at right is On) you wish to include in your back up
Note: your Camera folder is automatically backed up. (Note: I have standalone SD card storage and have set my default save location for Photos to be on the SD card. Any photos I take are backed up to Google).
Regarding the SD card ... if you didn't do anything to make it an integrated storage medium for the phone then it'll be a standard, additional storage medium. You can check by opening Settings | Storage ... if you see Portable Storage then the SD card is additional / standalone.0 -
I just copy and paste to another drive or the cloud .

Uploaded to Google Photos last night.Selected the freebie version and not the full res version.Has backed up most of the SD card. Think it's just the Whatsapp folder and a couple of others that it hasn't.Seems to auto backup every photo i now take though. I'm wondering how much of a battery drain this is going to be.0
