Am I right to complain about workmanship?

I am a new homeowner and our whole house has been painted. We have been here a few weeks and have been noticing more and more imperfections.
By this I mean, lumps of dried paint (small!) in all rooms, badly touched up areas (where for example a hole has been filled and painted over) that you can see, indentations in the paint, pretty poor straight lines on the edging.
Now I understand you cannot have perfection! But there are a variety of each of the above in every room. Are we right to complain about this? It just seems poor/rushed.
I would like to know whether these type of things (especially the dried paint lumps) are realistically unavoidable and therefore we are being picky?
Thanks in advance - sorry if there is a thread somewhere I couldn't find it.

I guess it depends on what you pay.  Lots of people set up as painter & decorator with no genuine skill and they don't grasp the basics.

The key to good decorating is all in the preparation - sanding and filling - that's where much, even most, time is spent.  Good decorating isn't cheap at all, it takes longer than most people think.
Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.
  • Do you mean this is a new build and it was decorated before you moved in?

Was the house painted prior to purchase? If so unless your house is supposed to be high end I think your expectations are too high. Getting a good finish takes a lot more effort than most people are prepared to put in on a house they are selling. Even if you are booking the painter yourself you may need to be very careful who you choose and in setting out expectations.
