What is EH?Back on 7th November slithery gave you a link to Shelter's website. And I gave you a link to my post on repairing issues. Both those links tell you to write to the landlord. Why did you not follow the advice? My post also clearly explains who Environmental Health are so I assumed you'd understand 'EH'.Your immediate next step now is to put your issue in writing to the landlord and post it to the address "for serving notices". Even if that address happens to be the agency in the same building!Give an explanation of the problem.List the various dates you have previously complained and how.List the various dates of visits eg by contractors.Make clear the issue is ongoing.Ask for a date for it to be resolved. You must start putting pen to paper and formally reporting the issue. EH (environmental health!) will want to see that you have reported the matter properly, and been ignored.0 -
abc.xyz said:Update: A tiler came two weeks ago to have a look at the bathroom. Apparently he said he will fit it in between his other jobs. He hasn't returned yet. It's 7 weeks since they started the work, and I now have a fly infestation in my bedroom. I suspect they're coming up through the open sink/toilet pipes in the bathroom. Not to mention the disgusting smell. Any advice appreciated please. I am considering withholding rent money now. My health is now at risk.
I cannot afford to get the work done myself.
- you have an alternative bathroom, so the problems in the ensuite don't really affect your ability to wash etc
- your room is fine except the fly infestation. Do you just mean a few fly's are entering because there's a hole to the outside (prob not enough to be an infestation) or is there food / something attracting lots of flies (prob another cause, maybe due to lifestyle)?
You sound like you're not dealing with it in the correct process, then getting frustrated and jumping the gun. Either move, live with it (you have another bathroom) or follow the process fully.0
