Plaster problems?

Hi everyone
So we just had our banister changed from panelled to spindles. Upon taking the panels off it’s tore out a strip of plaster. The joiner has put a spindle over it and I didn’t think anything of it at the time but just went upstairs and noticed plaster on the the floor and peeled a bit of wallpaper back and looks like the whole thing is going to crumble and like the whole thing needs plastering but the spindle is in the way.

Shall I get the joiner back to remove the closest spindle so plasterer can get in?
Will it just be plaster or should I be worried? Helpful comments only please I have serious anxiety and I’m trying to be okay about it

A plasterer often needs something to plaster to, so the joinery can remain. It depends on whether you actually want that piece of wood there and it works in the context of the other spindles. If it doesn't, get rid of it and plaster the whole wall.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

The spindle needs to stay as would have a large gap compared to the others if it doesn’t. Hoping that can just take out one spindle, plaster the wall and then pop it back in, the spindle itself is not attached to the wall just very close so a plasterer wouldn’t be able to get a trowel in1 -
That will be fine.sbird90 said:

The spindle will (probably) be nailed in - Removing it would most likely ruin it.. The damage is not excessive, so a bit of filler carefully applied will fix it. If you were going to have a plasterer slap gypsum on, stick some masking tape on the wood. Plaster will stain the wood which would stand out like a sore thumb if you're varnishing/staining the woodwork.sbird90 said: Hoping that can just take out one spindle, plaster the wall and then pop it back in, the spindle itself is not attached to the wall just very close so a plasterer wouldn’t be able to get a trowel in
Any language construct that forces such insanity in this case should be abandoned without regrets. –
