TV Licence Direct Debits

Hi everyone. My 76 year old mother is in the position of having to pay for her TV licence this year...grudgingly! We tried to set up a direct debit online but she received a letter saying there was a problem and they needed a form filled in. She sent this away but got a second letter saying problem again no direct debit set up. By this point she ended up just paying in full at the post office.  Three weeks later low and behold a further letter arrived saying direct debit now set up even though the TV licence was paid in full. On phoning them they couldn’t see it had been paid. Anyone else having these issues? It’s caused a pensioner more hassle than it’s worth! Thanks for any advice all!!
