I wondered to check if i have any rights with IKEA with mis-information being quoted on their website
Desperately after some bedroom furniture & after going to Southampton store last week to find no stock, I checked IKEA website to see they had 3 items of the drawers i needed at Croydon store - there were no online deliveries of this item & I could not collect & collect.  I re-checked Friday, Saturday & 7.30am Sunday before I left Sunday morning to make the 100 mile trip.  I was first in queue to go down to warehouse at 10.30 & BUT nothing on shelf when i get down there!!  Guy in warehouse confirmed they had had a couple of customer day before trying to buy same item without success!!
After queuing for another hour at customer services (same q as their returns - &*%^ sake!) I had it confirmed that there should be 3 in stock but had 'obviously sold first thing this morning'!! A blatant lie as warehouse guy confirmed they had no items day before & I WAS first person in warehouse Sunday morning.
I wasted 7 hours of my Sunday making the wasted journey, 1/2 tank of petrol used & I still don't know when i will get my item!
IKEA have no email address to complain to, no web chat & the phone number cuts off ... for such a large established company, this customer service is shocking

But do i have any rights open to me regarding reclaiming wasted time/money??

No, you don't. And even if the information was accurate, obviously somebody else might have beaten you to it

Had you bought beforehand and incurred those costs, only to find they were out of stock you'd paid for then yes, I think they should at least offer you something.

In your precise circumstances, absolutely not.  No harm in asking of course, but they owe you nothing.

store stock counts are never 100% accurate. Theft, damages, customers or staff putting the wrong item in the wrong place and all sorts of things can make counts wrong.

Just because the information was incorrect doesn't mean it was a "blatant lie".

So complain about this "blatant lie" then.  You might get a goodwill voucher.

Have you thought of pointing to the gap where the furniture should be and getting a picture taken with your best compo face?  Of course you aren't entitled to anything but you could spend more time trying to get a goodwill gesture which might also end up as being wasted time.
