Was made redundant in May when boss closed the business down. I reopened under my business in same premises in June so have been trading as a sole trader for six months. I checked with accountant and my first tax return is due next year. I have a UTR which was registered in June. The new Lockdown has closed me. Am I untitled to anything ?

Are there premises-related grants available for the business being closed?
If you have any staff, they may be eligible for furlough.
Beyond that, UC is likely the only option for you as an individual.0 -
Hi, thanks for the reply. I work on my own. Premises related grants? The premises fall under the level for business rates.
I’m extremely new so I haven’t got a clue. Universal Credit?

Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Some rules may be different in other parts of UK.1

I have worked continuously since 1970 and paid a mountain of tax. Since 2004 I have been self employed. However as a result of age and health I slowed down recently and for the last two years out of three my state pension and my private pension have slightly exceeded my self emploment income.....the result not a penny of help. I have had to turn down work as I'm classed as vulnerable and so my self employment income this year has been pitiful. When we're out of this I want to get back to work even though I'll be close to 70. But it will be a struggle to attract business. However I watch other self employed people who continue to work and also get the payments. I could have understood if I'd have got a percentage for the one year out of three I qualify but to get nothing while others openly admit they're going to have a better year this year than ever because of working AND the govt handout. And no I don't qualify for UC because of the pension and savings.

The 50% is assessed over 3 years if failed the test on the 2018-19 year.0

Grumpy....yes I know, that's what I said, for two years I have a lower self employment income than my pensions, for the third it was higher than my one pension for that year. So averaged out my pensions have been greater than my average self employment income. So nothing.
