Asking for a friend
basically she has worked for the last 6 years and the pub she managed was closed so she was given her p45 as the company was dissolved last January, she didn’t claim any benefit since been unemployed as she used her savings but recently started back in the hospitality industry again and now is left without any income with the second lock down.
Can anyone help as she wants to know how she can go about claiming redundancy and is it possible to get universal credit ?

No statutory redundancy as employed less than two years. She should look at a benefits calculator. Might her employer furlough her?1

What, if anything, did the OP's friend receive when the original employer closed down last January?
Was she then on nJSA?
Started the new job, which is good. When did she start? Was she paid PAYE before end of October? That would mean furlough is a possibility. Redundancy from the new job will not be likely, given such short term of service. Also, presumably, she does not want redundancy but to return on 2nd December?
Access to UC will depend on income and savings (which can be assessed on 'household').0 -
Use a benefits calculator to assess entitlement https://www.gov.uk/benefits-calculators. If part of a couple must both claim and entitlement is based on joint circumstances. If not UC if she was employed from April 2017 to March 2019 and earning more than £118/week she can claim new style JSA.Martking said:.. is it possible to get universal credit ?Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Thank you for your comment, she didn’t receive anything from her previous employer last January after been with the company for over 6 years , can she claim redundancy?0

Try https://www.gov.uk/claim-redundancy , but I think some attempt should have been made to claim within six months. I am surprised the liquidator did not deal with this.0

What were the circumstances of the pub closing last January? That was BC (before coronavirus) - was it a part of a large business or a local free-house? Did she have any advice at that time about redundancy?0

It was a small pub chain and another chain took over the few pubs the company she was with dissolved, she was on the books for the same company for the time she was with them but felt she could survive on her savings which was silly when she was entitled to some benefit0

Why wasn't she TUPE'd to the new owners in the old pub?0
