Vodafone mobile broadband data sim activation won’t work

Hi. I bought a Vodafone mobile broadband wi if hotspot yesterday from Argos for £49.99. I also bought a £24.99 mobile broadband SIM card with 15GB included. (I didn’t realise the box already had a £25 SIM card in it with 15gb). The gadget won’t give me WiFi or allow me to connect to the internet. I’ve rang Vodafone twice and Argos twice. With No luck. Vodafone say the SIM card whilst activated does not show a top up of the data so I must pay a top up fee. That seems ridiculous given that I’ve paid £25 already for the sim card. Argos say Vodafone must load it. Vodafone say Argos must load it. Anyone had this happen or give me idea on how to resolve it. Thanks

Was it one of these?These require a decent mobile signal from Vodafone in the first place. If you don't have that it isn't going to do anything.1

I remember having to put one of mine in a phone first to get it registered on the network before the mifi would accept it
