Bed bugs - is it possible...

To check for bed bugs look at your sheets and under your sheets and on the actual mattress, particularly in the corners to look for tiny black dots, as if you had gone over your sheets with a black biro, these are the feces, a key indicator of a bed bug infestation, also blood spots on the bedsheets.
Check under your bed, can you see any?
When I got them after bringing them back in my suitcase from a trip abroad, I got bitten and had terrible bites, my husband however did not react at all so it is perfectly possible for one of you to get the bites an the other to not react to them.
I cant tell from the photos as the bites, when I got them just looked like normal insect bites, if you have them you will find traces on your bed as I have explained.
If you do find them, I am afraid it's time to get in a pest controller, please don't try and do it yourself, they are a pain to get rid of, and call a company that specialize in bed bugs, not just a general pest controller, I say this from experience.

You can pick up fleas from other than pets. if you were beside someone with fleas they can transfer to you.
They can affect one person and not another. My nephew got bitten by fleas from the cat  but his mother had none.
Did the bites appear in the morning pointing to being bitten during the night? That would indicate something in the bed or your night clothes.treating for fleas first.
Washing bedding and night clothes and hoover  mattress thoroughly as well as the bedroom - flooring, along skirting boards etc. You can buy a spray from a pet shop or online that will  have effect for 9 months to kill of emerging fleas- flea eggs can lie  dormant for 9 months  before hatching.
If that doesn't work then you need to look for some other cause.
