Bed bugs - is it possible...

Is it possible for you to get bitten by bed bugs but not your partner (or whoever you share the same bed with)?

I don't particularly want to go to a GP at the moment with this whole world upside down thing going on but i don't have a clue what's the matter with me at the moment.
I've been itching for a while and last week i became aware of all these spots/red things all over me that are incredibly itchy. I wondered if they were bed bug bites but the wife says unlikely as she hasn't got any.
I counted them off at the weekend, just what i could easily see in the mirror on my body and sides - not including feet, legs, back, back of neck or even arms, just simply body and sides - 53 of these whatever they are. 1 week on and i'm still itching like crazy. We have no pets so i'm not thinking fleas.

Bed bugs will bite everyone as far as I understand. And they bite all over the body.
  • Ring the GP - you need some sort of consultation.

Skin rashes can be a symptom of many things - including COVID.
As you say - it's unlikely that anything is biting you to that degree, without affecting your partner. So a GP appointment is called for.

    How to find a dentist.
    1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
    2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
    3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
    4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.
  • Another thing with bites is that it's not the bite but the body's reaction to the bite that causes the irritation. So two people can have differing symptoms.
I also read that women get bitten more due to their menstrual cycle, like it needs another down side!

Bed bug bites tend to come in groups as the dastardly thing walks along taking a bite now and then.
Do you feel otherwise in need of seeing the GP?  A pharmacist might be able to help by suggesting whether simple insect bite cream is appropriate if you have spots on arms or other easy to show places.
But a banker, engaged at enormous expense,

  • I highly doubt i have Covid. I've been fine since and have no symptoms.  Also clicking that link and what i have is nothing like that.

The arc across my stomach was a perfect example of that. It was like when you arc with a compass, except it was red dot, red dot, red dot about 5 or 6 in a row like whatever it is has walked over me and taken a chomp, had a few more steps and another chomp.

The wife has none of these marks at all. I haven't been rolling around in grass or anything else like that where i could've picked any of this up. I have no allergies, not that i know of.

I have been taking that Piriton or whatever it is called but it's been a waste of time. Made absolutely no difference whatsoever.

Well I was wanting to book in with them at the start of the original mockdown but i've stayed away as i don't particularly wish to go in to a medical environment with people coming out having received a dose of Covid while in medical care. This other issue is nothing to do with these spots/itching though. I have a pain in my lower abdomen on the right hand side which is painful depending on what movement i do. For the most part it is not painful and i can go weeks without irritating it. Back in March i would do home workouts and some exercises were too painful to do as they'd put too much strain on it so i had to do alternatives.
I then stopped doing home workouts and thought the pain had passed until maybe August time i moved a certain way and aggravated it again.
But that's not related to this issue.

  • Since it's just a close up of my side then i'll show it.

That's what they look like. Not like the earlier link.

  • You might be able to get a telephone consultation. On the bed bug point you can google how they bite.  I think they create a pattern of bites.  We once found them in our bed in a hotel. I felt them and got up and they were only on my side of the bed. I am sure they had bitten me but I didn’t react. Grim but better to know so you can get rid of them if they are there.
  • If it is them then where on earth do they come from? We've had nothing new in the room.

Bed bugs are not microscopic either. If you have them - you will see them.
Could be bite-y flies like mosquitos, gnats or midges in your room. Do you have a window open?

I live by a canal - and if the little bu££ers can find a way through to a tiny light source through a window - they will!!
