Notice to be furloughed or unfurloughed

Options
My employer told me this morning that I would be furloughed after today. About 10 minutes ago they changed their minds and said we are all working until Sunday (Friday if it is your weekend off) and then on furlough from Monday apart from the couple of staff who will be working through. I work at a car dealership.
How much notice should they give to furlough and unfurlough us? I suppose my specific question is once I am actually on furlough how much notice should they give me to return to work?

They can call you back to work without notice as you're not supposed to be doing anything else whilst on furlough, so there should be no need to give notice to return.

Thanks, I suppose what I am worried about is if one of my kids has symptoms or even a positive test and I have to self isolate could I be left on furlough or would I be taken off and paid SSP?

    Employer's choice.

CJRS was dreamt up to support the business & the employee by providing for their wages when there was no work for them to do. It was meant to take that burden off business and prevent (or delay!) mass redundancies, not as an alternative to SSP, because people can’t find childcare, aren’t comfortable or simply don’t want to go into work. if the company wants you back at any point and you want to continue to work for them you’ll be expected to return.

its entirely down to the employer, who in that hypothetical scenario could place you on SSP or leave you on furlough. As you can’t affect the outcome and it’s not a bridge that doesn’t need crossing yet then I think you’d probably be better off worrying about that if or when one of the kids has symptoms or a positive test result?
