Has anyone had any issues opening a cashminder account at Co-operative Bank? I applied about 3 weeks ago but still haven't heard! I only applied for it because it was the only bank that didnt do a hard credit check as I will switch it to Natwest for the switching offer

Slow when I opened one years ago !1

I opened a Cashminder account years ago and didn't have any trouble. Now my finances have improved, I've switched to a Nationwide flex account. Cooperative were really stingy and wouldn't let me have a contactless debit card once my finances improved! So I left.
P.S. If you want to switch because you are having financial troubles, you may not be eligible for the Natwest switching offer. I learned that when I was having difficulties, and have yet to be accepted for one of those switches! (That could be just me, but most banks do seem to have quite strict criteria.)Please note - taken from the Forum Rules and amended for my own personal use (with thanks) : It is up to you to investigate, check, double-check and check yet again before you make any decisions or take any action based on any information you glean from any of my posts. Thank you, luckily I don’t have any financial issues, I simply opened that account because it didn’t leave a hard credit check on my fileMalMonroe said:I opened a Cashminder account years ago and didn't have any trouble. A new account with a bank you currently have an account with won't leave a hard search either. Nor will Monzo or Starling.0

That's not always true - most banks will credit check you when you open a current account, even if you already hold an account with them. I can't think of an instance where I've opened a second account and haven't had a hard search...penners324 said:A new account with a bank you currently have an account with won't leave a hard search either. They've just made a business decision not to upgrade Cashminder accounts generally - you could have still used Google Pay or Apple Pay for contactless.MalMonroe said:I opened a Cashminder account years ago and didn't have any trouble. or maybe get a curve card and link your card to it - would that work (not sure if curve supports cashminder accounts)?0

Halifax.
You can also apply for a credit card with them and they won't search you if you already have a current account with them. Probably the same applies for Lloyds and BoS as they use the same system.

Just open Starling and Monzo and you'll have 2 spare accounts.
They only do ID checks, no hard searches (unless you also apply for overdraft).
