AO.com washing machine faulty 4 days outside of one year warranty - HELP!

Hi,
I purchased a washer dryer from AO.com, it came with a one year guarantee.
When we first got it, we reported how noisy it was. AO sent out a Zanussi engineer who said there was no fault and they would not refund or exchange it. We accepted this and learned to live with the noise.
Now yesterday, the tumble dryer part of it has completely packed up. It doesn't dry at all - there is no heat, and clothes come out wet. The washing machine part still works.
I contacted AO.com today, to report this and request a repair. They contacted Zanussi who said that because there was a previous call out and no fault was found, that any further call out would be chargeable. Does this sound correct?
Is there anything further I can do?
Thanks.

That sounds broadly correct.
You would need to provide that any fault was there when you bought it. So you could get another independant technician to check it and see what they say if you wish. If the fault isn't a manufacturing defect and just "wear and tear" then you will need to pay.2 -

If the machine was identified as being damaged by the OP then yes they'd have to pay.
Wear and tear after a year on such a product the retailer should resolve.
OP you should hire a local independent appliance repair company to review the machine and provide a written report of the issue.
If this finds a issue which has not been caused by yourself then go back to this to AO and request they resolve inline with your consumer rights (repair, replace or refund, refund may be reduced to account for usage vs lifespan) plus refund you the cost of the report.
If AO refuse or fob you off to the manufacture again then send them a letter before action followed by small claims. In the game of chess you can never let your adversary see your pieces2 -
OP do not claim under warranty claim under your Consumer Rights as said against AOL .

Thanks all.
After asking AO to put their stance in writing, I contacted them again as I hadn't received the email which they said they would send. They advised they are now referring it to Zanussi head office and I will hear from them again shortly?! I did mention Consumer Rights to them. We shall see.
This machine was close to £700, for it to only last 1 year seems outrageous... My old machine was about 20 years old and still worked when AO "kindly" took it away. Massive regret! It has been a nightmare since day one0 -
Zanussi - The Appliance of Science. (I think that used to be their tagline 30+ years ago). I remember my parents getting a Zanussi combined washer/dryer ~33 years ago - as it was their first tumble dryer then they had no expectations of drying performance. When my wife and I acquired the house after they passed away we quickly ditched the machine due to the poor drying performance versus a standalone tumble drier (that my wife was used to) ... drying performance has always been pants with these combined machines2
