It may be worth applying for UC and requesting a disregard for the additional mortgage money anyway. As indicated in the guidance both I and Gary quoted earlier the Decision Maker has discretion to extend the normal disregard beyond months.Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Some rules may be different in other parts of UK.0

nJSA is worth investigating. Eligibility is based on past NI contributions, which you sound like you would satisfy, and the basic claim for up to 6 months without considering capital or partner's income.
If you are on JSA, you can then try to get NEA to allow you support to start your own business rather than look for other jobs.0 -
