Hi, does anyone know what's a good price for installation of warm air system, replacing existing. Had a recent service of an old Johnson and Starley system which had to have one pilot light capped because of yellow flame and now advised I need a whole new system. Not sure how long the flame has been yellow either, which is concerning. Any advice is welcome. Thanks

I'm guessing that there's probably not a lot of competition in the warm air market so getting an idea of costs might not be everso easy.
It appears that Johnson & Starley are still operating and still make warm air heating units, so it might be worth checking them out - they may even have spare parts for yours and they'd probably be able to advise you where their installers are located and the practicalities of replacing your unit.
try contacting them - http://www.johnsonandstarley.co.uk/products/warm-air-heating
This article refers to other manufacturer's who might help - https://www.hwch.co.uk/heating/warm-air-heating/
TBH I wonder why the pilot was capped - they aren't exactly high tech - it's a jet so probably just needed either cleaning or replacing.Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers0 -
I used to have Johnson & Starley warm air heating and had it replaced because of age, cost of maintenance etc.
I replaced it with a combi and radiators and have been using 4000 kWh plus less gas a year and saved over £250 a year on maintenance costs because Scottish Gas were the only one in my area who would service it.
Also no need for the big ventilation holes in the exterior wall.
My advice, replace it with radiators.0 -

Ripped it out and put modern conventional system in.
Get quotes for that as well, combi, radiators etc.
