Morning all! Looks like it's going to be sunny in a bit but it hasn't cleared the houses across the road yet. Have discovered that the tip remain open so just booked myself in for November 17th, the furthest date available in anticipation of another full boot. I used to save items for sale, or for giving away but the slob woman is right, it takes too much time and effort sometimes, so except for the odd item, the rest can just go away. I've spent my whole life re-using, recycling, upcycling, preventing things from going to landfill. So I've waived feeling guilty for doing it just this once. And I'm consoling myself with the fact that hardly any of it is going in the non recyclable bin, it's mostly going in wood, metal and paper which IS reycycled. Was lovely to see two friends last night, won't be seeing them again until December, but we were doing a weekly video chat last time so I expect we'll ressurect that again.I have a stack of Italian craft magazines to go through and pick out interesting bits before those go in the recycling too. Bin day is such an opportunity now
The OH has donated his xbox 360 to his nephew so that has gone out too. We are also toying with the idea of removing the glue spots from the ceiling from taking off the polystyrene tiles [ we were going to wait and get it all skimmed] and paint the room. I am also toying with the idea of replacing a radiator in the kitchen, the bottom is most definitely rusty and I've been putting it off for a few years thinking, when the house is done etc. I've just noticed there are shut off valves on the pipes leading to it so now may be the time.
Gers, I see you have fallen for the charms of the magic cupboard. Know what you mean about implants, I kind of went off false teeth when my gran used to come for Sunday dinner, then fall asleep in the chair in front of the TV after having carefully taken them out and stuffed them down the side of the chair. Rosy, that was nice of him, glad to see there was an apology and a perk involvedTA, happy potential static caravan day! OHs mum has come to the same conclusion and their sold their peripatetic one for anticipation booked holidays with solid toilets! AOD, cute! frilly knickered crow made me laugh. Hey all reading along, stay weatherproof on Wednesday!

Morning all, the sun is shining again, but brrrr it's cold, still only 4 degrees.I was woken this morning by the sparrows chewing the fat in the trowing, they've been missing for a while and I have no idea where they disappeared to but the sun must have brought them back....... they've probably got their own spa up thereYesterday I was a bit of a maniac with the cleaning, I even dusted the top of the fitted wardrobes, in hindsight I wish we'd ( as in Mr Fix It ) built them right up to the ceiling and not stopped about 3" from the ceiling, certainly didn't think about the dust !The wm is on with a clothes wash and there is another waiting in the wings, there is a towel wash ready to go too.Mr Fix It has a plumbing job to do this morning as our upstairs toilet will not flush, sounds like it's not re-filling. I expect I'll be holding the ladder, tools etc. as it's the victorian type with the gubbins up high.Tea last night was the last of the beef casserole for me and himself had a sausage roll and oven chips. I forgot to take out the pork steaks last night so I will freezer dip later.Nelski didn't think of border control ! I'd probably only get a gravy smeared plate anyway as those guards get mighty hungry on their shiftsRight first wm load done, I'll put in load 2 and hang the first out, the bedding mostly dried outside yesterday so my fingers are crossed for today too.Take care all, stay safe and keep well. BTW I've kept all the seats warm on the lockdown bench !!nan xxFailure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently11

Morning all
Bright and sunny here but blooming cold, might try the heating later and check it all works we will be putting it on soon but for now the fire is enough in the afternoons evenings.
I have had a bit of an eventfull morning I went to fill the kettle earlier and the kitchen tap flew off when the tap was on fulla stream of water shot straight up into the air covering everything, cupboards, worktops, window sill, ceiling and me it was only on for seconds before I managed to turn it off but everything was soaked and the actual tap landed in the sink and broke a glass, it was a very rude awakening !! I have cleaned up the water and then left the tap off while I have a cuppa will go and try to fix it after this.
Not sure about dinner but I think there is some spag bol / chilli leftovers in the freezer so I might get them out I amtrying to make space in there for Xmas. Talking of xmas I got all the presents wrapped yesterdaymore are to arrive but I will try and do them as they come so I feel quite virtious this morning
Have good days all and take care xx

Morning all.
You'd never believe it but I started reading this thread a couple of hours ago. Since then I've had the doorbell ringing, a couple of long telephone calls and other side-tracking things happening.
Anyway, if I don't get on with doing something useful soon the day will disappear and I will accomplish nothing. Story of my life really.
RedRuby, I know you've your own reasons for getting Christmas wrapped up already, but WOW! Well done there!
Nanny I do the same as Bella with my kitchen cupboards. Only I don't use clingfilm as I find it has a mind of its own when trying to spread it over the tops of the cupboards. I use newspaper and when it comes to removing it I just spay the tops lightly with water. It stops me covering myself and everything else with dust when the newspaper is pulled off.
On that very mse note I will leave you in peace.
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
I've had my patience tested. It's negative.I believe that friends are quiet angels
Who lift us to our feet when our wings
Have trouble remembering how to fly.14 -
Bella and Monna thanks for those ideas, now why hadn't I thought of either of those. Doh !! I shall try both and see which one suits although I have to get himself to do it as I'm so short vertically challenged that even on the last ladder step I can't reach properly ( plus I'm not allowed on a ladder as I have a habit of falling off
) I think am in desperate need of twizzle arms and legs
The toilet has been fixed, an easy job but awkward to get at. I haven't done the towel wash so I'll do that tomorrow now as I'm tired out being the go-fer and plumbers mate. I don't know how many times I had to go up and down the stairs but it was a lotI did notice that the toilet and landing light-shades need cleaning/dusting so that's my goal for this afternoon while the ladder and Mr Fix It are readily available.Right I'll put the DW on and wander off into the sunset, I've done enough waffling for today.Love to allnan xxFailure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently10 -
Afternoon all,
Very cold here today but it's been sunny all day so far, clouding over a bit now.
I am doing the same with Christmas gifting this year as I did last year......buying for the littlies and making a charity donation for everybody else......I suppose I am being lazy but I feel that everyone here has enough and there are thousands who don't ..
Since our lockdown ten days ago the number of Covid cases has fallen dramatically, hopefully that will continue. I hope that DS2 will make it home for Christmas......he usually goes to Japan with his partner but Japan is not allowing foreigners in at present. We are a bit disappointed that we can't have a party for OH who will be 80 on ninth, but it's not very important in the scheme of things so we will celebrate when we can.
Stay safe everybody......this too shall pass.
