Please help me choose a suitable vacuum cleaner

I got a shark a few weeks ago and I love it. Had a 20 year old Miele and the power on the Shark is impressive - I too mostly use it on reduced power. I find rug/carpet to hard floor is an easy flick of the switch whilst hoovering.
It is really light for carrying up the stairs whilst hoovering and so easy to carry down and up to use.
I have been very impressed with the suction, like the easy empty canister, basically I think for the money it is a good choice.Debt at highest: £8k. Debt Free 31/12/2009. Original MFD May 2036, MF Dec 2018.1 -
I also bought a shark recently. I got mine from the shark Ebay store and it was less than £140. I really couldn't believe how good it was, the suction is amazing.1

Thank you for all the comments, all of them useful. I read a lot of information and reviews online. In the end it was a toss up between a Shark, a Henry and a Miele. Sadly I decided that an upright just wouldn’t be suitable for my rather small, awkward rooms. Even though I would have really liked the Shark, I would be mostly just using the lift away. So it was between the Henry and the Miele, both of which seem very popular and have great reviews. In the end I chose the Miele, as I think the design will be more practical for me. So a bit of a compromise on price and storability but happy with my choice.1

TBH, I find an upright much more suitable for smaller rooms than a cylinder. I purchased a Sebo (much better than a Miele imho) Airbelt cylinder for my parents house and whilst it's brilliant in the rooms downstairs there's not a lot of space in the bedrooms and it's a real pain to drag around in awkward spaces.Annie1612 said:Thank you for all the comments, all of them useful.
