Shortest time frame you've owned a car?

I bought a Daihatsu Charade GTti from a mate on a Sunday morning, did not like it so stuck it on eBay a couple of hours later and sold it that evening. Total ownership? 7-8 hours?'Just because its on the internet don't believe it 100%'. Abraham Lincoln.

A few weeks. Same story as others: I bought a Citroen Xsara, second hand, for commuting to work. A few weeks later someone pulled out from a side road without looking; I swerved to avoid the other car; I did avoid the other car but the Xsara ended up crashed and in a ditch. The other car drove off.
My passenger and I were fine and the Citroen Xsara was no great loss to anyone. There was nothing wrong with it per se, but the electrical system had already started playing up by the time of the accident.0 -
Yeah, new Citroens may be perfectly fine but the 2 I had have put me off for life.
Electrical issues, water issues. I didn't really like the interior feel. Not a fan & not about to start finding out if they've improved any.
Adrian, quite right. As per, I've phrased the question terribly.0 -
I knew someone driving an brand new Mazda MX6 from the showroom, overtaking car wrote it off a few miles down the road, returned to collect his trade-in.0

3 hours. I have always had 2 cars my 4x4 workhorse and a cheap run around, I brought a fiesta as my run around and then sold it to my best mate that afternoon after he blew up his corsa0

A motor bike dealer told me of a customer who bought a fireblade (Honda? not a motorcyclist). On taking delivery customer revved the bike to drive off and lost control, rode across the dual carriageway the dealership was on and into someones garden and wall. About 50 yards!0

JustAnotherSaver said:I saw the thread asking about the longest you've owned a vehicle. I'm in two minds as to whether to try sell the car i've not long bought. I'm wondering if i'll be happy with it even if the major problem can be fixed at decent cost. If it can't be fixed then the car is a problem anyway as it's not reliable for A-B-A/C motoring at all but if it can get sorted right enough then there's plenty of niggles that have me asking myself should i just cut my losses. And it was totally all my own fault as i didn't vet it enough on purchase day...............................Why don't you at least fix the turbo problem before worrying about any other minor niggles, because as it stands now it is an unreliable worthless skip on wheels? What have you got to lose!0

I'm actually seeing a guy this weekend who is going to teach me how to drill and then create a thread (so that i can then try the Mr Muscle approach). He wont do it for me but he's going to teach me how to do it as i've never done it before and i'm bothered about messing it up.As for what have i got to lose?Well probably about a grand.Right now for the most part it runs and based on how the light is triggered in my usage it wouldn't come on on a test drive (though may come on once they turn the engine off, sign the paperwork and then come to drive home).Drill it and mess up and it's then basically worth scrap ... or a proper fix, and then it's a question of whether the proper fix actually does fix it or whether it ends up being a case of being something else as well.Yep i know i have to be honest in an advert. If someone asked me am i having turbo problems then i'd have to say yes. If they don't ask then i wouldn't be being dishonest i suppose.0

Back in the late 1950s dad owned a Morris 8 for 2 weeks. He only drove it twice, once about a mile to his friend's (and back) so they could do some work on it and on the second occasion 15 miles to p/x it for a slightly newer Morris 8. I went with him for both trips. Mum never got to ride in the car.If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales1

Many moons ago I was doing 4 or 5 days contract installation work at a Mercedes Benz franchise dealership on Upper Brook Street in Manchester.
As a sideline to selling Mercedes cars they also sold a few classic (and hugely expensive!) Ferraris.
While I was there a guy came in to complete the purchase of a rare Ferrari for £500k !
The ecstatic salesman made arrangements for the Ferrari to be delivered to the guys house in Stoke on Trent later that same day.
Unfortunately the truck and trailer delivering the car went off the M6 halfway to Stoke and the Ferrari was all but obliterated.
From £500k purchase to complete destruction in about 2 hours....ouch!
