The advice given by Argos is good, she has no rights to return for a refund so selling it to someone for as close to her purchase price as possible is a good idea.

I agree.  How can it have been tried and not been used?  It's used.

I've inferred she bought in store?
  • she ordered online and collected
so no chance to change to something else , if can’t return for refund ? Is her silly mistake but worth to ask .
She said she didn’t realised she will need to connect with her fb acc etc, she said don’t want to feel
    unsafe when using fb acc

oh well things happen, thank you guys

  • used / tried
just thought if I bought jeans , put on and didn’t like -they used or just been tried on?😄

Ordering online and collecting might give her a 14 day right of return but if she's opened it, connected it to Facebook (if she got that far), downloaded software updates, etc, then that goes beyond what would be considered reasonable handling to assess suitability.

    thank you, make sense  really.
just thinking what I would do in that case, buying something without good research.
but again, how you can check is all good without turning on ?
  • found on argos website

If the item or the packaging has been handled excessively to assess the goods (i.e. more than you would if you were buying it in a shop) we reserve the right to reduce the amount of refund to you.”

so there is still right to ask refund even they will reduce amount ?🧐

Well how far did she get with it. The reduction could be to £0 depending on what exactly she has done. I’ve got one, and I certainly wouldn’t want one that had been played on for any length of time (or maybe I just have a sweaty face)
  • There's countless walk-throughs and in-depth reviews for items like this, meaning she'd have had ample opportunity to explore exactly how it worked without needing to spend a penny.
It's rough, but at least eBay / FB marketplace make it easy to sell something like this on :)
