Home Office Reserve List, Liverpool - Anybody Still Waiting For Job Offer?

Is there anybody on here still waiting for a job offer from the Home Office in Liverpool? I have been on the list since March 2019, but as yet still no job offer. Now I don't know what position I am on on the list, but I was told that some had been taken from the list and been offered jobs.
The last time I enquired to Human Resources, I was told that the reserve list had been extended again to 31st October 2020. Well, now that this date has elapsed, I was just wondering if anybody else is in the same position as myself, which is of course still wating for a job offer.
Thanks guys.

Being on a reserve list is not a guarantee of a job offer.  It simply indicates that you have the required skillset for the work and that more applicants met the requirements than there were available roles.

Thank you for your reply. Yes indeed, I know all too well that being on a reserve list is no guarantee of a job. However, this is the longest I have ever had to wait, as most of the other reserve lists I have been on in the past have usually led to my being offer a job. Maybe in this case, though, their reserve list was exceptionally long. I don't know.

Being on the reserve list is a good thing, you have jumped through all the hoops.

But they will wait until a suitable vacancy arises, it can take weeks, it can take months and in the coronavirus pandemic, everything is very uncertain so could (as in your case) take longer.

Hang in there, I'm sure something will happen. As to when, nobody can say at the moment.

Similar thing happened to my brother, he had also jumped through all the hoops, was very despondent about it all as he was kept waiting months - and then he was offered a post at the HO, which of course he accepted. He's been there 23 years now.

Slightly changed your tune from the ‘you HAVE got a job’ on the other post about a reserve list. Thank god for that...

To OP: I’d say it’s definitely worth asking if the list has been closed or extended again, with it being past the date and it being 18 months now. Definitely keep on looking elsewhere though!

I am in the same position.   I had an interview back in March last year for a settlement resolution officer, based in Liverpool.  We were told at the interview that there were no positions available and they were recruiting for positions that may need filling in the future.

I had an email back in August to say due to COVID the reserve list was being extended until 31st of October and I haven't heard anything since.  I have had emails asking what shift pattern I would prefer and one asking if I would accept a part time contract (18 hours).
I currently work for HMRC and I was on a reserve list for 14 months before being offered a job.

Re. my Home Office Reserve List position, I am beginning to give up all hope that they will EVER contact me, seeing as it is now over TWO YEARS since I passed! What is puzzling me though is the fact that on the Civil Service Recruitment Site, my application is STILL being listed as "Successful". How do you make that out?

How many times can a reserve list be extended, given the recent Covid crisis?
