Parked on broken yellow lines..

Options
I recently received a parking ticket for parking on yellow lines. The lines are broken in lots of places on the street, including the part where I parked. I have read that when this is the case, any parking ticket given which is appealed, will be overturned.

I took photos of the car upon getting the ticket which shows the lines faintly there, but clearly broken, and attached this to my appeal. I have had the appeal rejected. See reasoning in the photo attached.

My options now are either to continue the appeal process (submit a notice to vehicle owner and then a different officer can judge the appeal which is stage 2. Stage 3 of appeal process is a tribunal), or I can pay the £35 now.

Is it worth me appealing this again? From doing a few searches online, it seems to be popular opinion that broken yellow lines mean you should always be able to get any fine overturned, and if that’s the case surely they wouldn’t want this going to a tribunal?

Considering the lines are so faded in most places and actually completely gone in some places, surely they wouldn’t have a leg to stand on?

Appreciate any help!

thanks

alex

Broken DYL are not a get-out.  But for expert advice, because this is a Council PCN, post on pepipoo forum.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

  • This looks like a council ticket. This forum majors in private parking issues.

Your best bet is to head over to pepipoo.com and post in the Council Tickets & Clamping and Decriminalised Notices forum. Read a few of the threads there first, to get an idea of what information they want. You'll need to post up redacted copies of the PCN, and any other correspondence you have had.
