After an abortive attempt to get Currys to pricematch a Comet TV price reduction (Comet didn't have it in stock so Currys said they wouldn't pricematch it).., I've never wasted my time with Pricematching again. Nor have I shopped at Currys again. Comet obviously doesn't exist anymore lol. Nowadays I just search for the best price online, and buy at the cheapest price from a reputable store. I don't buy from online retailers that seem chancey.
Pricematching is more hassle than its worth, I just want to buy the dratteded thing, not sit there negotiating and waiting for emails to be answered.1 -

I think John Lewis are about to drop the pledge (https://www.theguardian.com/business/2020/aug/23/john-lewis-prepares-to-drop-never-knowingly-undersold-pledge-coronavirus). Irrespective I find them a decent retailer who rarely get things wrong. for electronic goods I prefer Richer sounds but I'm not about to stop going to JL because of some rantings from an individual.6

I love JL and shop there a lot. Mostly because they do have longer guarantees than everywhere else, they will fit what you buy (if necessary and not always at a cost) and they will take away the old equipment you don't need. (At a cost but it would cost me to have it removed anyway.) If I have ever had cause to complain at JL I've taken stuff back and received a full and immediate refund. No fuss, no questions.
But have to admit that I bought my new TV from Richer Sounds because they are a good company that I have used before and trust and they, as has been stated, give a 6 year guarantee.
For JL to refund or care about their old price promise, you actually had to buy the product first, then tell them that you got it cheaper and show your receipt. I once tried to tell them about a cheaper price and that's what I was told. But in the meantime I discovered that the JL guarantee was far superior and longer, so I bought from them anyway! Please note - taken from the Forum Rules and amended for my own personal use (with thanks) : It is up to you to investigate, check, double-check and check yet again before you make any decisions or take any action based on any information you glean from any of my posts. I don't shop at JL much, but the only time I used the price match was when I bought a Bodum travel mug, I knew it was cheaper somewhere else (we're talking a couple of quid on a £14 or £16 item) I asked the guy who showed me where they were located & went off, came back and took me to the tills and told the person what I should be charged.0

I think this thread is a bit naughty to be honest. They wanted John Lewis to do an emergency price match so they could get the lowest price AND get a John Lewis voucher for £100 AND probably getting a 5 year warranty instead of 1. It's NICE if you can pull these deals off but it seems a bit much to be so nasty if they won't play.4

I’m another one who generally buys my electronic goods from Richer Sounds and doesn’t bother with price matches. Saying that I did buy an expensive item from Richer Sounds a few weeks ago and I ended up getting them to price match against themselves. Saved me £200!0
