Lastminute.com - paying for holiday using someone else's credit card also bad customer service

I seem to be having major issues with Lastminute.com. I booked NY with my friends as a block booking back in January. I paid the deposit using my debit card and we are due to pay the remaining balance by tomorrow. Due to everything that is going on we want to pay the balance using my friends credit card. When I called Lastminute to do this they are trying to say we can only use the debit card used even though on the confirmation it states we can call to pay by another method. When calling three times today they are stalling and now saying if we want to pay by another method we need to email them the card details, which I said no to due to data protection and email card details via email. They then said I need to wait for a call back today which I have a feeling I wont get. I have sent an email to the customer care team stating they should not take the remaining balance from my debit card as it is no longer active so it will be declined however we are willing to pay the balance by another method so do not cancel the holiday (as it says in teh confirmation, if they go to take payment and it is declined it will be cancelled and we are eligble to pay the full amount). First I wanted to see if this is ok for them to act in this way and also, if my friend pays for the remaining balance on her credit card will that cover all of us in the booking should the holiday be cancelled? What is there are restrictions in place but the flight is still going? Lastminute state that as the flight is still going ahead it would still be deemed as going ahead even though we have been told its for essential travel only....I am totally confused!!!

Your friend will get s75 protection if she uses her card, but it's only likely to provide cover for her part of the holiday.
If the flight is still going, then it will be up to you if you get on it or not. If not, see if your travel insurance covers you for cancelling the trip.

Unfortunately I didnt take out holiday insurance at that time (I tend to do it just before the trip...lessoned learned there!) so its looking likely I will probably lose all of money!

I did upgrade my RBS account to Platinum which gives worldwide cover however this was done at a later date so I am sure there is a clause that means I am not covered!
