Harveys sofa

Good morning.
I brought a sofa from Harvey's and it was delivered in Jan 2019. Part of the wooden frame has snapped in half and is now poking though the material. Am I right to expect it to last more than 22 months?
Harvey's have gone into administration so can't go back to them, I don't have accidental damage on my home insurance so can't go down that route. I paid deposit in credit card and rest was on finance with creation but that's been settled now so can I still go back to them? Do I have any rights? Or do I just have to accept the loss and buy a new one?

Contact the finance company and your credit card company, talk to them. They are jointly liable for the product. The amount of time you can reasonably expect something like a sofa to last is dependent on the price paid and the use it's been put to, but assuming that it wasn't incredibly cheap, you've been sitting on it like a regular person and that you don't weigh over 18 stone it should really last longer than that.

Thanks I have sent an email to the finance company and going to find out my log in details for the credit card so can contact them as well. Also going to contact the care plan company as I may be able to get some money back from that. Also going to try sell the chair and pouf I brought to go with it.*Dad loan - £5300 - £5900

Do you by any chance know a local furniture maker or possibly a skilled carpenter? (preferably one with recognised qualifications).
As it's more than 6 months from purchase, the finance company or credit card issuer could insist that you prove that the fault has occurred due to a manufacturing defect (poor quality parts or poor assembly) and if they ask for this proof, it would really speed things up if you could get the info and pass it on to them now.0 -
