Ford Used Car Warranty

Hello hive mind.

My grandad has bought a used car from a Ford dealer where we live and I am going to collect this with him today. I've found out that he was offered a used car warranty for 3 years and has accepted. I have problems with the cover as there's lots of exclusions and it's not worth it (£700).
Exclusions: Parts not covered by Ford Direct Warranty

The warranty covers failure due to manufacturing or material defects in original specification components, except those listed below:

  • Standard service parts –air cleaners, oil filters and gaskets, spark plugs, fluids and oils.
  • Normal wear and tear parts –ancillary drive belts, batteries, brake friction material (including discs), bulbs, clutch facings, exhaust pipes and silencers (although catalytic converters are covered), fuses, lamps, shock absorbers and MacPherson struts, tyres, wiper blades, checks and adjustments.
  • Trim and bodywork –interior trims, glass (heating elements are covered), seat covers and pads, bumpers, mouldings, paint, sheet metal, water ingress, weatherstrip and body seals, aerials and wheels.
My mum and auntie have spoken to him and he agrees that he probably doesn't need it now that he's read more about it - he's 82 and a little bit naïve when it comes to money and sales and was made harder as he spoke to the dealer over the phone. I've had a look around online but not sure what to quote at them to back out of this - are used car warranties covered by any consumer rights cancellation windows?

Thanks for any advice!

Out of interest, has your Grandad simply asked the garage about not having the warranty?
Did he make the purchase in person or online / telephone?

Car make and age?  I am assuming over three years old.

If it has an Ecoboost engine, or more importantly a Powershift gearbox, a warranty is definately required (if it has a Powershift I would go as far as to pull out of the deal).

Which items that the OP listed as excluded is the OP realistically expecting should be covered?  No warranty can cover wear-and-tear items.
When we purchased my wife's car, the Ford Direct Warranty was better cover than the Ford New Car Warranty - a rather odd observation that we made at the time.  Warranty may have changed since then.
