I have just gone on Maternity leave (SMP) 26/10/20!
I have been entitled to the self employment grants so far. I am returning to work in January. Am I entitled to claim the the next grant in Nov/Dec? Or am I not allowed as I am on maternity leave ?

We can't be sure until we see the full guidance. The window for claims does not open until 14 December, so there is some time yet.1

If you would not be working anyway during the relevant period then logically your business has not been impacted by COVID during this time, in which case you are not eligible.Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Some rules may be different in other parts of UK.1

The claims window has now been moved to 30th November. With the changes to BBLS at the moment as well it seems a lot is in flux.Jeremy535897 said:We can't be sure until we see the full guidance. The window for claims does not open until 14 December, so there is some time yet.0 -
Let us hope the guidance/legislation in detail comes out in time for the claims!0

It will probably be available in January judging by anything else this government does.Jeremy535897 said:Let us hope the guidance/legislation in detail comes out in time for the claims!0 -
But I am returning in January which is one of the months that is covered! Or do I just make a loss that month!calcotti said:If you would not be working anyway during the relevant period then logically your business has not been impacted by COVID during this time, in which case you are not eligible.0 -

How can you possibly know whether you'll be affected in January, it's only November.

What business are you in. If you can 100% say that your business will be impacted maybe you can claim it. I haven’t read the guidance though. Maybe the best thing to do would be to email HMRC and ask so you have it in writing if you’re ever investigated.numpty79 said:

In your circumstances, you have to be able to declare that demand reduced from 1 November until the date you claim, but we await detailed guidance/legislation.0
