This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Still dark, but less blustery - air is cooler too.
DH up and gone to work stupid stupid early, I'm showered, dressed and enjoying my first cuppa and my porridge whilst on here. DS1 is getting ready for work. DS2 settled and happy.
Dinner last night was gammon, egg, gratin potatoes and peas. Tonight will be liver, bacon, sausage, LO mash, veg and gravy.
Back to work today for me, I'm training again on the new role I'm doing for some of today too. Just today and tomorrow then on days' off again. Hoping there's no change to how we're working - I don't see why they would at this stage, we'll see.
Spoke to the holiday company yesterday our few days away have been cancelled and they are organising the refund.
Keep safe and well x

Morning All
Thanks for the start nmlc, sorry your holiday has been cancelled.
Still more rain this morning and very dark, feels like it will be a long winter. When I got home yesterday I cleared away the sweet peas from the back garden, they were still going strong but falling over. I found some dhalias still blooming so they are in a vase here in the kitchen, seems strange to have flowers from the garden in November!
I have a Covid anti-body test that I'll do later at work (so someone can stab me!) and will get that sent off later at one of the special post boxes - I think that's my excitement for the day!
Hope everyone's well, take care. XX15 -
Good morning and thanks NMLC. hope your training day goes well.I didn't get to post yesterday, as we had no internet, by the time it returned I'd forgotten I hadn't posted!I was out briefly yesterday, in our high street. It was busy for a Monday, people preparing for lockdown I suppose. Some of the charity shops have just re opened, now they'll be closing again.I wouldn't mind a quick look in TheWo*ks, for some cardmaking things, I know what I want so wouldn;t be in long.We need to be going out to buy a new sink as well, for when the kitchen is rejuvenated, we'll probably go to B &*,.That's about all the excitement that's going on here today, hope everyone is ok.Take care and stay safe folks16

Morning
The rain let up for a while yesterday so I dragged some stuff up to my undercover washing-line-and-seating-area to sort out. I chopped and bagged up some of it, I feel like I'm finally making progress. If it carries on raining it won't matter because I'll be able to stay dry.
Today I want to tidy the food cupboards and go through the gadget drawer. A quick glance tells me most things are still useful but I spotted bits of things – I'm sure one thing is from a coffee machine which we haven't had for a couple of years and there's a few plastic nozzles from a piping bag which mr tru had to buy but has never used. Not sure where the actual bag part is!
The last lockdown involved digging, building, carrying and fixing. I have no intention of doing any heavy work this time so I'm going to treat it as a month-long holiday, lol.

Morning folks and thanks NMLC. Sorry to rub it in to you unfortunates with rain but we are forecast a nice (but chilly) day! The beck down the bottom of the hill was overflowing after Sunday's torrential rain but hadn't made it as far as the road fortunately.
I've been AWOL a couple of days. As usual not a lot was happening here to bore you with. And I was struck with the miserable stick too for good measure. Oh well life, such as it is, goes on.
I had the bright idea of going into town yesterday to get the special family Xmas cards just in case lockdown is extended beyond the 2nd. It seems everyone else had the same idea! It was like town used to be in the good old days, busy busy. I even had to queue to get into the card shop! I got a few more stocking filler gifts from Boots and did another stock up of Sparkle's preferred food as I can't be doing with a sulky cat if I have to revert to her previous favourite.
So it's back to internet shopping again today as I still have a few things to buy. I think I have bought all the "other people" gifts now so can get back to the close family gifts now. I just need a bit of inspiration! Before that a bit of window cleaning is called for. The outdoor window cleaner came yesterday and they don't look much better thanks to all Sparkle's snuffle marks. She likes to keep the neighbourhood under surveillance!
Supermarket delivery slots are in demand again and I expect the usual out of stock suspects to emerge once again. Surely the panic buyers still have enough toilet rolls left from first time around! I managed a slot with Iceland this weekend easily enough but Tesco slots are now booked a good 2 weeks or more ahead. I made one for the 18th but am thinking I should try for a couple more after that. DS and DD say they will get anything I need but I feel they have enough on shopping for their own families without a list from me too.
Have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) for all in need of them. RR I have my fingers crossed for your op going ahead. Take care one and all and stay safe and sane xx. ."If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"14 -
Morning
Lovely day here but a bit nippy
Up at the crack of daft this morning after an early night. Used the bit of energy to walk to post a letter which is the equivalent of a normal persons 5K run for me right now. Added hazards of thick piles of leafs all over the pavements didn't help. Still a long way to go I guess.
Rest of the day is wonderfully plan less so I will pick and chose some nice easy jobs to do if I feel like it. Liver bacon and onions for dinner with some mash ...that makes me happysmall things now
Have a good day all

Good morning folks.Dark and dank here too. At least the rain isn't as torrential as over the weekend. My dental appointment went well. Temporary crown replaced with the porcelain one and the other root canal treatment finished off. I opted for a white filling in that tooth. I really envy the younger generation with their mostly pristine teeth. In my childhood the policy seemed to be drill, fill or remove.Today it's DM's turn for dental treatment. The domiciliary dentist is coming this afternoon, great excitement here as DM has been really unhappy about the lack of dental services. I only hope that all is well with her teeth. It's so sad to have more lockdown for England and read about holidays being cancelled. The panic buying looks silly again especially as the big supermarkets will still be open. And then our FM said that she's considering the same for Scotland but only because of financial reasons rather than infection control. I predict a stooshie if that happens. Now it's time to wish you all a happy Tuesday.14

Morning all.
A bright sunny start to the day. I suppose it's too good to last.
Yesterday I went to the Garden Centre as I wanted to get a few Christmassy things to avoid a rush in December, always supposing that we are allowed to rush about then. Having got in there my mind went blank. There were lots of beautiful things and I managed to talk myself out of buying any of them. I came away with a small sparkly tree ornament and a tiny angel for the Advent Calendar I make every year for my DGD.
Christmas is going to be a bit weird anyway this year. I feel sorry for the businesses who rely on Chistmas for their profits, but very glad that, for this year at least, it will be a much simpler affair than the usual bonanza. I've been fighting a rearguard action for a long time to pare Christmas down to something more meaningful. Maybe this is a beginning.
Today I'm back to trying to sort out the chaos in this house. It's a losing battle.
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Always p r I c k sausages well before cooking to make sure they are quite dead.I believe that friends are quiet angels

Morning all
Dry and bright here and no rain due today which is rare atm, both dogs are currently asleep on their beds but they will start mithering me for their walk at about 10 - 10.30, I can usually hold them off till 11 but by that time they are frantic and even follow me to the loo, dd gone into work today so a nice day pottering round.
I heard nothing from the hospital and I am assuming that no news is good news fingers still crossed that they dont cancel.
After taking the dogs out I am going to sit and wrap some xmas presents this is likely to take me a few days as I hate wrapping them and find it better if I do it in bite size chunks, I will then stash them away untill christmas.
Spoke to work yesterday and they are putting me back on furlough for the lockdown so that I can save my holiday for after xmas in case I still need time off, they have been so great and understanding with the whole situation.
Dinner tonight us the remaining chicken fro yesterday with some garlic cubed potatoes and either salad or veg, there will be enough chicken for a few sandwiches too and the dogs had a meal off it last night too with leftover potatoes and veg so nothing was wasted.
Have good days all xx12 -
Morning all! Rubbish nights sleep, remarked on by OH when I got up,just couldn't be bothered ot keep lying there making ouch noises every time I moved. Two cups of tea later, i feel almost human again. Just got distracted by lip synch battles. The Tom Holland and Ann Hathaway ones are really funny. Anyway, going to pick up two old fashioned storage jars for my kitchen utensils in a bit. I took the two big bags and a another black bag of bed stuff to the charity shop yesterday, they phoned in the morning and said can you come in now rather than the 12th when I'd been booked in to go. I was only too pleased to agree since this has freed up space in the hallway for the shoes to go in which has freed up the front of the bookcase for decluttering at the end of the week. Had a chat with another lady outside, who'd sadly lost her father and was doing the clearing out of things..Another friend has recently lost her mother to covid, I can see how if you are not in a good mental state all these things can conspire to affect you. I am determinedly not going down the doomy gloom route. Two friends are coming round tonight for coffee, they would have been round for the grand unveiling anyway, this way we get to eat fast food that's bad for you too. I might make a cake. There's plenty of beef left for sandwiches today, and to have with mash tomorrow, although I might push the boat out and make polpette [ italian version of burgers or rissoles] . I have one bag of upholstery fabric to take to the end of the next street for a local intiative who will be able to use it come end of lockdown, so it won't be watsed and more importantly, it will be out of the house. Bin day tomorrow and I have a box of chocolates for the beleaguered bin men who will find another full bin from me this week. Right that's me procrastinating again, must go get dressed and get on.Hope it stays positive Ruby, fingers crossed for you. Scarlet, enjoy sink shopping! tru, damn skippy, bsides, you need your strength for future carols...:) Nelski, liver and bacon, all is well with the world. Gers, someone was telling me before all about how the best present their mother had ever had in Wales was having all her teeth taken out given false one. There wasn't anything wrong with her teeth, that's just what they did. I was flabbergasted! Hey all along for the ride, stay posidrive, righty tighty, lefty loosey Tuesday!Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi12
