Giving up council tenancy- entitlements

Hi everyone,
I've decided to give up my council tenancy and moving to a private sector to be with family.
Moving from London to Kent.
Am I entitled to some moving cost grant or anything like that? If so where would I apply and what to apply for?
If anyone has any information I'd be ever so grateful.
Thank you

Don't do it. Council tenancy so much cheaper and more secure. Yet you're worrying about some little moving grant? Very minor compared to extra rent costs.

Have you enquired about an exchange to Kent?

You could try your local Citizens Advice Bureau. Depending on your circumstances you might be able to apply for a budgeting loan, or there are a number of charities and benevolent societies that give grants. But - I suspect you'll find that there aren't many people willing to help you move from a council tenancy to the private sector, on the grounds that in most cases that's an absolutely terrible idea. I appreciate that "most cases" isn't "all cases", and you might have exceptional circumstances that mean it's right for you. But if that's the case, talking to Citizens Advice would probably still be helpful - they might be able to come up with an unusual answer to fit your unusual circumstances.0

Here are some links that may help:
https://england.shelter.org.uk/housing_advice/council_housing_association/cash_incentive_schemes
In 2013 Lewisham were offering between £26-44k : https://lewisham.gov.uk/-/media/files/imported/cash-20incentive-20scheme-20information-20sheet.ashx
Although, much has changed since 2013, I know at least five London councils still offer such incentives, and all of them are a minimum of £15k.0
