Courier for Televisions?

Options
Most don't seem to offer insurance for televisions, apparently all delivery drivers are clumsy clods who fumble around more than Inspector Clouseau.

Am I right in still thinking collection and paypal would offer the seller no protection whatsoever? That used to be the case but it's a while since I sold a tv.

  • Have you thought about trying local selling sites like gumtree of facebook that way you get cash on collection
Yes if you sold via ebay and the buyer paid via paypal and then collected they could then open an item not received case and without tracking info the buyer would get a refund
You can put cash on collection on your listing but you may get a buyer who doesn't bother reading that far.

Or the majority of people dont know how to package a fragile item and expect budget couriers to work miracles....

What are you, the couriers union or something? I see nothing but complaints about couriers so I don't think I was out of line with my harmless joke.

Correction, most are self-employed guys working to tight deadlines to make a living and simply do not have the time or resources to handle delicate goods such as TV's.  An economy parcel service simply isn't suitable for these types of goods.

You see complaints because people dont go online and praise decent/good service.
They generally dont want to pay for it either.
Of course maligning multi drop drivers on tight deadlines and low pay as a joke is completely acceptable, especially given the last 6 months have seen a massive increase in these pressures alongside the pressures of a pandemic.
Your TV should of course be paramount in everyone's priorities.

I'll take that as a 'yes', then.

This site is for the consumer, correct? Or did I wander onto a forum for multi million pound companies that can't offer solutions to potential customers problems?

Plum. The consumer isnt forced to use carriers who offer no cover for TVs.
You can use carriers/pay for insurance but theses suppliers will charge on the basis of risk.
I will reiterate again on peoples definition of quality packaging.
Tvs are generally sent via pallet,so their packaging is designed for that method of transport.
