Help Egg have been stealing money from me

egg have been stealing money from me (out of my bank account) from a credit card i closed two years ago!!!!!

according to egg its for some other company for card protection (who i have never heard of)

egg say they have no record of me closing my account!!!!

i contacted egg 2 yrs ago to close my account...i have received no correspondence since .....nothing (not even adverts for buying anything) so therefore assumed account was closed as requested

egg say they can't do anything about it as the money is going to another company

aarrrghhhhh i have never been so incensed

I assume you've called the number then ?

Egg have not stolen anything. You agreed a continuous payment authority at some point for card cover and the cover company are applying to Egg to take the fee. Egg can not say no on your behalf, you have to contact the company and get it cancelled.

Sounds like you have set up a CPA (continuos payment authority) with this company to take a payment from your card. Egg WILL be able to provide you with the details of where the payment is going.
Closing an account will NOT stop that company from taking payment. YOU have to cancel that authority with the company concerned. The card company will not cancel it.

Try Google, it can be very useful. It would tell you, for example, that 0845 121 3904 is the number for Egg Emergency Cover. So the 'other company' is, in fact, er, Egg.

Although it has the name Egg Emergency Cover its actually a company called CPP (card protection plan - www.cpp.co.uk), egg offer this type of cover on application.

As the OP is talking about something from 2 years ago this was before the time they renamed it Egg Emergency Cover (ECC) so the actual agreement will/would have been with CPP. Presumably Egg are just giving the same number out for both ECC & CPP.
