Private Sewage Pump Stations

Options
Hi, I was just wondering if anyone has one of these or familiar with them?
We are buying a house that has one installed and the owners have said they have never had it serviced in the eight years they have lived there, I was just wondering how reliable these are as we are struggling to get any further info from them ( we know what the they do and how it works)   The system they gave is apparently a single pump system and serves just the one property so it will not be maintained by the water company.
Thanks

You do mean a pump (into the mains system) not a treatment system?
I imagine like the boiler, the electrics etc you could get it nspected by an appropriate professional to report on its condition. eg
(not recommending- they were first on my duckduckgo search)

Thanks, Yes its just a pump in well to push the sewage up hill, we currently have a treatment system where we live now and the pump station is totally different as it goes into the main sewer

If you don't chuck baby wipes/sanitary towel down there or pour fat down the sink and you will be ok, but pumps do not last forever.  So they are as reliable as the stuff you flush down the toilet/sink.

Get yourself in contact with a local firm that services pump stations so you have a number to call should it all go wrong.  If there isn't a high level alarm then one should be fitted as a minimum.

There should be twin pumps to be on the safe side, or have enough storage in the tank for 24/48 hours of sewerage which should be enough time to get an engineer out to sort any issues.
