Has done an horrendous job on small pitched roof and all roofers who have seen it have said don’t let him back on the job and he should be reported. However, as the law goes he should be allowed to put it right, he won’t he’ll just bodge it again! How do I stand in claiming back my monies if for obvious reasons I don’t let him redress the works/damage?

You do need to give him the opportunity to fix his work. If you don't, it may go against you if this ends up in small claims court. You might decide to get estimates from at least two reputable roofers to correct the works and then give the first builder the chance to correct it satisfactorily within 14 days. If he isn't willing to do so, or doesn't manage to fix it properly then you send him a letter before action asking for the money or you will take him to small claims court.0 -
It has to be a typo so I'll refrain from any smart comments!Very tempting though.0

Did you pay him after the work was completed, did you point out any faults etc that you were unhappy about.
Advice from Aylesbury_Duck is the way to proceed.
"Is he embarrassed?" LOL. Probably just a little bit red faced about his finished work?

I was thinking more Moulin Rouge... perhaps was too busy singing and dancing to fix the roof properly...?
Ok OP, you need to give this ROGUE builder a chance to put it right. State in writing what is wrong, and ask him to return and fix it within the next 7 days, or at least arrange a time to fix it within the next 7 days. State that if he is unable to do this, then you will have to get someone else to fix it, and he will be responsible for any costs.
If you don't give him a chance to fix it, then you can't really do anything other than pay someone else.Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0
