VirginAtlantic - Refund insurance

I want to book a flight through Virgin Atlantic which is non refundable. But if I fail a covid test, I won't be able to board the flight. I'll know this 1 day before the flight.
Is there anything I can do to insure myself if this happens? I've never used travel insurance and don't know if it can be used for this purpose.

you should look to book direct with Virgin (not through a third party) and have a read of their flexible policy on bookings which would allow you to cancel for credit that is valid till end 2022

Many travel insurance policies currently exclude covid so when looking you would need to read the policy very carefully

You could always "insure" yourself by isolating for 14 days BEFORE travel.

Thanks Caz! I didn't see any mention of a minimum time that I'll need to tell them to make a change, except before the flight. It might be I want to tell them a few hours before the flight.
The trouble is, I'll only know I can't take the flight, if the covid result doesn't get processed in time. I have to find a covid tester that gets the result back within 24 hours so I can get it stamped for approval by an embassy.
  • Another vote for just isolating for 14 days before hand - that'll be a sure-fire way to make sure you haven't picked it up.
