The adverts are for 2.8% representative. Only half of those accepting will get 2.8%.
Reading several thread, it's like hardly anyone here shows up as being on the headline rate.

Maybe the headline rate borrowers are too happy to post here.
Yes they will be. Those that get offered the headline rate rarely come to forums to boast about it. It's generally those that don't get the headline rate that come and ask the question as why that is. Hence you'll see more posts about not getting the headline rate than those getting it.
Or they come to the forums and continually drag up old threads because they're got turned down on eligibility checkers. Wait, never mind.
haha, hope you are doing well Batesy, better than me.

If it will add balance to the discussion I can confirm that I applied for a £20k loan from TSB and was immediately approved for the headline/typical rate. I didn't feel lthe need to start a thread announcing this :)
I applied and was immediately denied/cancelled without a hard check even being registered.

Got it from another lender anyway.

Unless you're paying for a CRA credit file service such as CreditExpert that offer real time access to your file you're not going to see updates as and when they occur so there may well be a hard check waiting for you in your next report.  The exception to this appears to be Credit Karma (and Clearscore does appear to eventually give you a heads up but it takes a while.)

Yeah exactly, and I do pay for CreditExpert. I am still paying, will cancel it soon. But it has been very useful for me to get quick updates. And TSB didn't do any check.

Another Lenders check showed up within 1 Business Day, which I expected.

To be honest, I've signed up to every tool out there for credit checking.
