Pending credit card payment (car tax)

Hello just checked my Sainsbury’s card payment for car tax and it’s pending, just checked on the Dvla website and my car is not taxed now because it’s pending payment, how long does it take for money to clear ? Just don’t want to risk driving in taxed. I have an email to confirm payment was made successfully, but showing in taxed for some reason.

If you have an email to confirm payment was made, you are taxed. The DVLA website wont be real time hence why its not showing taxed.  If you are still anxious, print out the email to say you have paid in case you get stopped by the police.

I assume thats the website he is on about. Presumably takes a day or so to update.

When I bought my last car I bought the tax whilst sat in the showroom and then 20 mins later drove it back home around 80 miles away. The OP is taxed.

Exactly what bradders said.
I think the database is only updated once a day hence the slight delay but if you've paid and got the receipt then you're taxed. Being pending on your credit card is normal, it will be added tomorrow probably

Ahh makes sense cheers, thinking about it I did pay Friday and with it been over the weekend I have a feeling it’ll update tomorrow with it being the first week day since

The OP is taxed - if the payment was made after the "end of day" on Friday, the payment will be pending until bank working hours on Monday (and may not show until the overnight update runs).  DVLA website only updates daily / overnight also, but the confirmation e-mail is sufficient for the time being.  So long as there are funds in the card for the payment to clear.
