Morning! Had a couple of busy days, doing stuff with fabric and spending over two hours on hold waiting for people to answer phones [being cut off twice for no reason, my swearage was impressive], car service which involed walking back and then to fetch it again, I was very very pooped after that, shopping, butchers, tyre puffing up, petrol, lots of machine washing [including all the towels] so I have measuring and sewing to do today and a roast beef dinner. Small one though, meat, roasties, yorkies and cabbage and sprouts - the extra brassicas are just to double down on the smelly f*rts...
When I took the chicken stock out to make stew i discovered I'd put it in there in July, so that was the last time I'd made a roast dinner and the only reason we're having beef today is because I had to make some room in the freezer for other stuff. A bag of flour, the beef [ half price last december], a very few oven chips and a container of what I thought was pea and ham soup but turned out to be stilton and broccoli were turfed out. I had the soup for a very late lunch. And I mended the dripping tap, no new washers required, just a bit of reseating achieved by scraping a screwdriver along the bottom to remove limescale deposits. I was ridiculously chuffed at that.Weather has been here and there the last few days, bit of rain, bit of wind, [very small] bit of sun. I was hoping to see the full moon last night but it clouded over so didn't get to, the firework letting off was going on intermittently until 1 in the morning so not our cat was in a constant state of panic. OH was off playing little men with a friend so I watched a lot of Resident Evil. Two more films and I've done the lot.Ruby, hope they don't cancel your op,it's no fun playing the will-they-won't-they game. dumpling, enjoy your planning, but be prepared for anything! Sorry about your holiday Hester but glad you have hot water, it makes life a little bit more bearable. Hope you get your washing amchine AOD! Can't imagine trying to do bedding in a sink. No laundrettes near in case? tru, once you haven't had those things for a bit you do get used to it. I usually felt full for longer with just protein and veg and no carbs. Hey al reading along,h ope you're doing good, scampering away with the time Sunday.....Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi12 -
Morning lovelies. The wind has dropped here and the rain has eased, hopefully we're through the worst of it and it's not just the eye of the storm. The leaves have been falling like golden poppies and the garden is now covered.I did an online shop yesterday and I also had an eye watering OMG moment, then I realised that Dad's was in there too, so I didn't feel too bad. I'm not going mad this year with the food as we don't have any idea how things will be, but at least I will have some nice things and I have the ingredients to make sausage rolls, mince pies and cakes. If families are allowed to get together and it's safe, we can always pool resources.I don't know what today will bring as I have nothing planned except making a slow cooker beef casserole. As the shopping is due tomorrow and I am still trying to make room in the freezers, I took out leftover HM curry for yesterday's tea and a tub of leftover beef stock/gravy for the casserole. There is some room now, but it will entail a lot of re-jigging to fit it in, if it all comes.Sorry most of you are back on the lockdown bench, I'll be off it on the 9th but heaven knows what will happen after that with us. I think I'll reserve my spot as it probably won't be long till I'm back !Have a good Sunday everyoneTake care, stay safe and keep well.nan xxFailure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently11

Hi everyone
I've been down with my dad this morning so mam could go to church - the last one for a month. Dad dictated his email to eldest DD in Sweden and I did his banking.
He's not too happy that they won't be able to get out for their morning coffee after Wednesday, but I've told him I'll still go down at the weekends.
I'll still be at work as I work in a nursery, but I really think schools, childcare, etc should be closed in order to make the lockdown ore effective.
Just going to have a lazy afternoon. Little one may be back for a short while later - DD was expecting there to be a meeting after work today. She works in a restaurant so they'll be closed.
Well, hope everyone has a good day8 -
Afternoon all,
We had a wildly stormy night......I got up before eight as I was wide awake for at least two hours.......it is wonderful to have such mobility......I am putting my surgeon forward for sainthood!!
I'm not sure what the UK lockdown will mean for DS2.......he had hoped to come home for Christmas as his partner is going to Japan but they are not allowing foreigners in so he may be alone in London......can't bear the thought of him being alone, but I am sure there are others in the same boat so why should my family be different?.
Ruby....I hope that your operation is not postponed, there is nothing worse than having uncertainty around operation dates.......I was totally on edge when my hip was put off as I had no idea how long the delay would be.
We had a nice afternoon yesterday,. with the four little granddaughters arriving in relays for trick or treats........DGD7 complete with her unicorn! Very simple but satisfying for them.......rather like in the 50s when I was a child.
-taff......you are such a busy, capable lady.
Windy here this afternoon, living room is cosy with fire lighting and (Gaelic) football on TV, I have found a pattern I fancy for a jumper for myself, might start it later as I have enough wool.
Take care everybody, stay safe
