Facebook Marketplace - item not received

Well, I think I've learnt a lesson the hard way...
I saw a bracelet that my daughter world like on FB Marketplace and asked the seller if they would post it. She agreed and added £4 onto the price to cover 'signed for' delivery. After almost 2 weeks it still hasn't arrived. She says she won't give me a refund until she's had HER refund from Royal Mail. I'm not sure of the etiquette here, but being both an eBay seller and seller of home made crafts myself, if someone had paid ME for an item but not received it, I'd definitely issue then a refund immediately and then chase up the compensation from Royal Mail myself.
I know I've been a fool to buy this way (bank transfer) but it won't be a mistake I'll repeat.
Just wanted to put this out there really. There is no protection at all when buying things in this way 🙁

You said it yourself. Never, ever buy something from Facebook remotely. If you absolutely must then definitely pay with PayPal goods and services.0

I’ve had compo claims with RM without a signed delivery, and they’ve sent me letters saying they did deliver it with a time stamp and I’ve not been able to get the compensation. Maybe she’s making sure she does get the compensation before sending it over to you? There really is very little etiquette with Facebook sales, especially when paying via bank transfer.2
