Will things like surveys and electrical inspections be affected by a new lockdown though?
Just wondering as our buyers have a Home Buyers Report arranged on our property next month and will also be arranging an EICR.0 -
I’m in Wales. We went into lock down last week. My buyers surveyor still conducted the survey on Tuesday despite lock down.1
-
I'd expect so. They are an integral part of the house moving process & the answer to the second question states "A: Yes – the housing market will remain open throughout this period. Everyone should continue to play their part in reducing the spread of the virus by following the current guidance."
I'll know next week as my buyers should be arranging a survey on my house imminently.1 -

A: Yes - Tradespeople like electricians, plumbers, repairers of domestic appliances can enter your home. They will need to follow social distancing guidance that has already been published.1 -
Surveyors are still working. As per the advice above, home buying will continue. Even Estate Agents will not be closing. There is, however, further guidance about things like homeowners (wherever possible) not being present in the house for viewings and surveys.0

This seems a bit premature being almost 5 months before the end of the stamp duty holiday.0

My EA has just phoned to say no in person viewings so that delays things by another month. I wouldn't commit to buying a house without a physical viewing or at least if I did, I would view it ASAP after lockdown and may pull out / lower my offer if there were issues and I'm sure I'm not the only one.0
